SARA CHYAN

Sara Chyan explores the unique temperature-aware colour and geometric shapes of bismuth to create stunning one-of-a-kind jewellery and art pieces.

Bismuth is a rare low-melting point metal. It is commonly used in fire detection systems, electrical fuses, stomach medicines, cosmetics, pigments and bullets. But Sara used it in making jewellery and art. The oxidation of bismuth is spectacular, where natural crystalised forms and colours can tell us the temperature achieved.

Sara’s works adopt a minimalistic and conceptual approach. No two pieces are ever the same, as the colours reflect the different temperatures the material has burned at. This makes each of her creations truly unique.
